Dermatitis or eczema
Dermatitis or eczema, one of the most common skin conditions, is an inflammatory response of the skin to many endogenous and exogenous factors. It can be caused by external factors such as water, detergents (housewife’s dermatitis), soaps, cleaners, antiseptics, and building materials. It can also be caused by plant substances such as tomatoes, onions, oils, acids, and many others.
In the acute phase of dermatitis, itching, inflamed skin with swelling and blisters is present, while in more severe cases, there may be pain and intense inflammation with fluid.
In chronic dermatitis for more than 2 months, thickening of the skin, dryness, itching, and hyperpigmentation are observed.
Another type of dermatitis is contact allergic dermatitis, which occurs when the skin comes into contact with something that will cause it. Usually, the allergy remains lifelong, and there are thousands of known allergens, which are usually substances from the individual’s environment with which they come into frequent contact.
Other types of dermatitis include atopic dermatitis, which appears more frequently internally on the elbows, inside the knees, or on the front of the neck. It has periods of exacerbation and remission. The exact cause of the condition remains unknown.
Neurodermatitis is due to excessive scratching of the skin. It appears more frequently on the scalp, neck, back of the hands, and forearms. Itchy and painful blisters, scaly patches and thickened, cracked skin. Treatment for eczema typically involves moisturizing the skin, avoiding triggers that cause flare-ups, and using topical creams or ointments to reduce inflammation.
Overall, skin conditions like dermatitis and eczema can be caused by a variety of factors, both internal and external. They can range from mild to severe, and can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life. It’s important to seek medical attention if you are experiencing symptoms of a skin condition, as proper diagnosis and treatment can help manage the condition and improve your skin health.
