Do you feel your nose blocked and are you sneezing? The common cold is the most frequent form of upper respiratory infection, with symptoms lasting 2-4 days. Children under the age of 5 get a cold 3-4 times a year.

What are the common symptoms of a cold? Once you catch a cold, symptoms usually show up in 2-3 days, but it may take up to a week. Some of these symptoms include:

Some ways to ease your recovery include: rest and consuming plenty of fluids like chamomile or mint tea, nourishing meals such as chicken soup, lean proteins and vegetables. Over-the-counter pain relievers or specialized medication is recommended for the common cold and can be purchased from your nearest pharmacy. Steam inhalation is also effective in relieving congestion.

Be careful with younger children! Ask your doctor before giving any medication for coughing to your child, even if they are over the counter.
